Trunk n Treat

Last weekend our church hosted a Trunk n Treat and we were extra excited to attend for the first time with a little one.

Introducing...
King Kong and his buildings

For Emory's first Halloween, we really wanted to do costumes themed for the entire family.  We think it turned out great and we had lots of fun.. even if it was a little difficult to walk in the box sometimes.

4th of July Celebration - 2013

This year we had another reason to celebrate on the 4th of July.  It just so happens to be Emory's half birthday as well.  We were really hoping to see a large firework display... but of course it was raining.  It has rained pretty much 85% of this summer in Atlanta, which has not been very fun.

We got together with some friends to celebrate with a cookout, small fireworks, chatting, and a game.

This is also the day that Emory decide he was ready to start crawling.  He was showing off to our friends.  :)

A little update...

Just a little update for those who have not heard yet.  We are moving! We will still be in Atlanta (well.. the suburbs, Duluth).  After yearly rate increases at our apartment, we realized that we could probably rent a townhome or house for about the same, if we were willing to move a little further out.  After a bit of thought and searching, we decided we really wanted to be somewhere with a little more space (we are busting out the seams of our current kitchen - especially now with Emory) and a yard for Newton and Emory to play in.

After what seemed like forever of searching, we luckily found a fabulous house with a great landlord.  It was a total fluke that we found it too.  There were no pictures online, just a listing.  I had just heard that a house we were really interested in was taken off the market, so I started feeling desperate.  I emailed the contact on the listing and we went and saw it that evening with no idea what it may look like.  Luckily they liked us and we liked the house! Everything was approved the next day and we signed the lease shortly thereafter.  They never even put up photos for others to look at!

We are moving next weekend (Aug 10th)... so boxes are currently taking over our apartment.  Wish us luck!  I'll keep you posted. :)

First baseball game

A few weeks ago Aaron's cousin and wife and their kids were in Atlanta for a mission trip.  We were able to meet up with them one night for a Gwinnett Braves game.  We had a great time catching up and introducing Emory to some cousins.  :)

It was Emory's first baseball game... but we honestly didn't watch any of it.  We were in the grass area just having fun.

Memorial Day Weekend 2013

We always try to make the most of any time off work, so we usually travel somewhere when we have long weekends.  But this year, we already had plans to travel the following weekend after Memorial Day, so we decided to stay in Atlanta for a little stay-cation and it was fabulous!

We kicked off the weekend with a drive-in movie.  There are so many good movies coming out this summer that we want to see, but we don't want to have to get a babysitter each time.  So the drive-in is a perfect solution.  The weather was great.  It was a bit chilly later in the evening, but we were able to cuddle up under blankets and enjoy the movie.  Emory watched about half of it and then he slept in his car seat the rest of the time.

Saturday was spent hanging out at home and then we went over to the Katie, Allen, and Noah's house. We grilled out hamburgers.  Emory got his first taste of watermelon.  After dinner, we took Emory and Noah to the park for some fun, but they didn't last too long.  Once we got back and the babies went to sleep, we played a fun game of Settlers of Catan.

Sunday was church, lunch with friends, Sunday afternoon naps, and... drive-in again! Star Trek twice. Mainly because our friends invited us to join them.. and mentioned s'mores.  I love s'mores and they knocked another item off Summer 2013 bucket list.

Monday, we decided to meet up with Katie, Allen, and Noah at Zoo Atlanta.  After living in Atlanta for almost 4 years, we still hadn't made it to the zoo.  Although we know Emory won't remember anything about it, we still had fun spending time together as a family and with friends.  :)

Sweet Noah
